NEW ORLEANS — Montana State University Billings athletes Jorey Egeland, Beau Ackerman and Sam Zook were recognized as All-West Region performers by the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday.
Egeland and Zook are both receiving all-region recognition for the second time this season after being named to the team for their indoor performances. Egeland made the cut in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after winning the conference championship with a time of 8:55.30, which ranks seventh in all of Division II.
Zook was named all-region in both the 100 and 200-meter dash, where he ranks 19th and 21st in the nation respectively. He is coming off of a pair of second-place finishes at the GNAC championships and helped the Jackets 400-meter relay team win its first title in program history.
The highest nationally-ranked Yellowjacket is Ackerman, who is fourth in Division II in the javelin with a throw of 226-10. The junior secured the GNAC championship in the event with his second-best outing of the season (223-1).
