Western Washington avenged a pair of losses to the Montana State Billings softball team with a sweep of their own Sunday at Yellowjacket Field.
The Vikings (13-8, 5-5) won by scores of 12-2 and 13-5. Montana State Billings fell to 9-12 overall and 4-8 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
MSUB had a four-game winning streak snapped with the first loss. The Yellowjackets had swept the Vikings by scores of 10-5 and 5-4 one day earlier in their first home games of the season.
In the first game, Western Washington scored seven runs in the top of the fifth in a game that ended in the bottom of the inning due to the 10-run rule. Two big home runs provided the offense as Emma Blauser hit a grand slam and Haylee Baker blasted a three-run homer.
Baker, who hit a home run in each of the four games over the weekend, went 2-5 -- including a round-tripper -- with three RBIs and three runs in the second game. Blauser also homered for the second straight contest and finished 2-3 with one run and three RBIs.
MSUB has four more home games next weekend with GNAC twin bills against Saint Martin's on Saturday and Sunday.
