After eight months of serving as the interim co-sports information directors, James Catlin and Birgitta Gray have been hired for staff positions in the Montana State Billings athletic department.

Catlin is the new Athletic Operations Coordinator, while Gray is the new Assistant Director of Communications.

“We are excited to welcome James and Birgitta into these permanent roles within our athletic department,” said Krista Montague, MSUB’s athletic director. “They have had a positive impact on our programs during their time in the interim roles and we look forward to their continued successful contributions to Yellowjacket athletics. Both have a passion for sports and particularly for MSUB and I believe they will be a tremendous asset to the overall intercollegiate athletics department going forward.”

As operations coordinator, Catlin will be responsible for directing and assisting with all home athletic events, management, special events and promotional needs. He will also be responsible for the hiring, training, management and documentation of all student workers.

Gray, who remains in the sports information office, will continue her responsibilities for coverage of men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball, women’s basketball, softball and men’s and women’s track and field.

Both Catlin and Gray are MSUB graduates.
