WHITEFISH — Mark Casazza has resigned after five seasons as the head boys basketball coach at Whitefish High School.

“It is time for me to open a new chapter in my life,” Casazza wrote in his resignation letter to Whitefish athletic director Aric Harris.

The position was posted within the district last week and is now being advertised outside the district, Harris said.

Casazza went 55-47 in five years as the head coach, including 11-10 this past season. Whitefish finished third in the Northwest A divisional tournament earlier this month, one win from what would have been Casazza’s first State A tournament berth as head coach.

He spent 14 years as a coach at some level in the school’s basketball program.
