There was no change at the top and only some minor shuffling among the 406mtsports.com girls basketball rankings this week.
Helena (Class AA), Columbia Falls (A), Three Forks (B) and Belt (C) are still the No. 1 team. The biggest change toward the top of any classification is Havre jumping over Hamilton into the No. 2 spot in Class A.
It’s an interesting week ahead in Class AA. In a span of three days, No. 1 Helena plays at No. 2 Missoula Sentinel on Thursday, and then Sentinel travels to No. 3 Helena Capital on Saturday. These will be the first meetings of the season between these Western AA powers.
On the boys side a few more changes were made.
Hamilton remains in the top spot while Hardin stays put at No. 2, as both teams are Class A's final remaining undefeated teams. Butte Central drops one spot to No. 4 after a loss to Frenchtown on Friday. Livingston moves up to No. 3 while Billings Central rounds out the top five.
Class AA also saw significant shifts outside of the top spot, which is still being held by Missoula Sentinel. Billings Senior jumped up to No. 2, while Great Falls CMR cracks the list for the first time this year after a weekend sweep of Bozeman and Billings Skyview. The Hawks drop two spots to No. 4 and Great Falls rounds out the list after beating Skyview but losing to Bozeman over the weekend.
Bigfork reigns as king in Class B still and Colstrip remains at No. 2, both the last undefeated teams in that classification. Three Forks moved to No. 3 while Shelby made a huge jump from No. 9 to No. 4 after a big win over Rocky Boy on Friday. Rocky Boy dropped from No. 3 to No. 6 this week. Whitehall also jumped from No. 10 to No. 7 and Missoula Loyola rejoins the list, coming in at No. 8 this week.
No changes were made in boys Class C as Arlee continues to hold the top spot.
