Three varsity head coaches accounting for four state championships have resigned their positions at Billings West.

Stepping down are girls basketball coach Randy Chase and soccer coaches Mike Mayott and John Dorr. District 2 activities director Mark Wahl announced the resignations on Thursday morning.

Chase spent three seasons leading the Golden Bears, who finished third at the State AA tournament his first season and won the state title in 2011. West did not qualify for the state tournament this past season and finished 10-11. Chase was 43-27 in his three seasons at West.

Dorr finished his eighth season as the girls soccer coach, guiding the Bears to state championships in 2009 and 2010. West was going for its third straight championship last fall, but fell short of qualifying for the state tournament with a 4-4-5 mark.

The Bears won a boys state soccer championship under Mayott in 2009, his first year at the helm. West finished 7-3-5 last season, going 1-2 at the state tournament.
