BUTTE – Martha Dembek, a three-time all-state player at Winnett-Grass Range, has signed a letter of intent to play college basketball at Montana Tech.
The 5-foot-9 Dembek averaged 11.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.5 steals last season in helping lead Winnett-Grass Range to a second-place finish at the State C tournament.
During Dembek’s high school career, the Rams won three 7C district championships and reached the state tournament the last three seasons.
“She has a really quick first step and can finish when she gets to the basket,” said Montana Tech coach Kerie DePell. “(She) also has an outside game to complete her skill set on offense.”
Dembek, who is an all-state athlete in cross country and track, has also been selected to play in the annual Montana-Wyoming All-Star basketball series.
“Martha is an exciting prospect for us to sign,” DePell said. “She is a great overall athlete, as shown by her success not only in basketball but her track career, too.
“I think she will come in and contribute to our team atmosphere right away.”
