Laurel defeats Havre 38-21

Huntley Project rolles to playoff win over Whitefish

4:45 p.m. Update - We are furiously posting scores and updating brackets, so you can find current information there for today's first round playoffs. A few results stick out...I think everyone expected Huntley Project to roll, but raise your hands if you saw them leading 51-0 at halftime. Sets up a fun quarterfinal match with Baker...Laurel trailed at halftime to Havre in a very windy and physical game, but scored on a long pass in the third quarter and three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to ice the game. Up next for the Locos is a trip to Frenchtown...Impressive showing by Twin Bridges, going on the road and winning at Ekalaka 56-32. That game and Columbus' 12-7 win over Malta are the only two games won by road teams that I've seen today.

Any updates from you guys out there on how these teams looked? All I've got to go on at this point is a list of final scores, so let us know what your impressions were. And if you see a score missing on our scoreboard or brackets, let us know.

12:30 p.m. Update - MHSA has posted a AA football bracket with the following pairings:

No. 1 Capital vs. no. 8 Big Sky

No. 2 CMR vs. no. 7 Bozeman

No. 3 Helena vs. no. 6 Sentinel

No. 4 Skyview vs. no. 5 Glacier

This falls in line with what we were thinking, though I'm not sure how they settled the tiebreaker between the Falcons and Wolfpack. At any rate, this would mean Glacier will make the long drive to Billings for the first-round game. That is the farthest trip a team in AA would have to make this year, and the road team in playoff games between Kalispell and Billings teams has really struggled in recent years.

More on this later on when we have more details.

Saturday, 10:30 a.m. Update - Starting now, each win and loss means a little bit more. The football playoffs start today at 1 p.m., and we'll do our best to get all the scores online as quickly as possible. Use the links to our online playoff brackets to track your team's run to the finals. And if you haven't done so yet, check out our Facebook page, we'll post updates there (and on Twitter) as well.

11:30 p.m. Update - We have all the scores in, but with three teams tied at 7-3 and three MORE teams tied at 6-4, we still don't exactly where teams are going for the playoffs. We're trying to work through tiebreakers, but there's a sticky point right in the middle: with the three teams at 7-3, Helena wins the first tie breaker over Skyview and Glacier, based on point differential vs. common opponents, but Skyview and Glacier are deadlocked at +22 against common oppoents. My guess is Skyview and Glacier will be the four and five seeds, but no idea where they will play that game...for all I know, there could be a coin flip to decide who gets to stay home, and who has to spend the day on a bus.

For now, here's my best guess...please, realize these are not official, and we won't get official pairings from MHSA until Monday. These are based on my understanding of the tiebreakers.

No. 1 Capital vs. no. 8 Big Sky

No. 2 CMR vs. no. 7 Bozeman

No. 3 Helena vs. no. 6 Sentinel

Skyview vs. Glacier, seeding and location to be determined

For now, we've got updates on West's win over Senior and Skyview's win at Bozeman.
