On Friday and Saturday, one of the most anticipated wrestling tournaments in the region will play out in Miles City.

The highly-regarded Cowboy Invitational is on the schedule and the four Billings high schools and Laurel will attend. Count Skyview coach Rich Malia as a fan of the Cowboy. One thing Malia likes about the tourney is the competition. Teams are entered from every classification in Montana. Usually North Dakota and Wyoming also send teams.

"The Cowboy is a change of pace for us," Malia said. "There are some good teams and individuals. You see completely different people."

At last year's 54th Cowboy Invitational --

The team scores were: Gillette (Wyo.) 216.5, Laurel 184, Forsyth 178.5, Billings Skyview 177.5, Billings Senior 145, Sidney 133, Powell (Wyo.) 121.5, Williston (N.D.) 121.5, Billings West 101.5, Glendive 96, Colstrip 87.5, Baker 78, Sheridan (Wyo.) 72, Dickinson (N.D.) 67.5, Glasgow 65, Hettinger (N.D.) 48.5, Wolf Point 43, Miles City 42, Bismarck Century (N.D.) 39.5, Hardin 38, Billings Central 33, Cody (Wyo.) 33, Buffalo (Wyo.) 27, Circle 13.5, Poplar 3, Broadus 1.

The Most Valuable Wrestler was: Dallen Brauer, Forsyth, 152 pounds.

The quick pin award winner was:  Kris Miller, 125 pounds, Gillette, 4 pins in 8:12.

A major highlight was: Glasgow's Luke Zeiger (140 pounds) won his fourth Cowboy championship.

Who will win this year's Cowboy? What teams will surprise? What individuals will stand out?
