Red Lodge will have a new head football coach when practice starts next month.

John Perrigo will take over for John Fitzgerald, who stepped down as football coach in April to become Red Lodge’s interim superintendent. Perrigo was an assistant on Fitzgerald’s staff the past two seasons.

The Rams have won or shared the District 4B championship each of the past three seasons and advanced to the second round of the Class B state playoffs last season. They lost to eventual champion Missoula Loyola, 34-33, after failing to convert a two-point conversion late in the game.

Fitzgerald is also relinquishing his duties as the activities director. Jason Reimer will take over that position. Reimer worked in Thompson Falls before spending last year in Arizona.
