Coach: Matt Stricker, 2nd season

Top returners: Mackenzie Redman, Sr.; Rachel Wagner, Sr.

Key newcomers: Sophia Mascarena, Fr.; Chloe Michaelson, Fr.; Jessica Heldt, Fr.

Noteworthy: Redman qualified for the state meet last year and looks to make another run this season. … For the most part, the Rams are laden with underclassmen, but Stricker sees possibilities.

Coach Stricker says: “It’s a young team, but we’ve got lots to work with. They’re all really receptive to learning and are excited to be out there. We’re kind of starting with that and going from there.”

Billings Senior

Coach: Terry Caekaert, 25th season

Top returners: Sammy Walter, Sr.; Kortney McNeil, Jr.; Emma Dyre, So.

Key newcomers: Allie Bofto, So.; Abbie Mohr, Fr.

Noteworthy: The Broncs won the team title last season by 19 strokes over Kalispell Glacier. ... McNeil is the two-time defending State AA medalist. ... Walter placed fourth at state.

Coach Caekaert says: “Kortney and Sammy are playing at a high level of golf, and Emma has improved. Let’s see how we do.”

Billings Skyview

Coach: Kas Ioane, 13th season

Top returners: Alicia Stoner, Sr.; Delaney Schmidt, Jr.; Madison Bartleson, Jr.; Kodi Bell, So.

Key newcomers: Emma Tolzien, So.; Angela King, Fr.

Coach Ioane says: “We have a great group of girls, they’re hard workers. We’re looking forward to improvement from last year.”

Billings West

Coach: Lance Edward, 2nd season

Top returners: Hannah Zwemke, Jr.; Hayden Flohr, So.; Mike’la Atkinson, Jr.; Elli Sullivan, Sr.; Kayla Northrop, Sr.; Dani Campanella, Sr.

Noteworthy: Led by Flohr (6th) and Zwemke (12th), the Lady Bears finished third at state a year ago. ... Zwemke led the team with an 83.8 stroke average.

Coach Edward says: “We have a team that is as deep as any in the state. The girls worked hard over the summer and it will be fun to see if we can be in the mix at the end of the season.”

Laurel

Coach: Amber Griffith, 1st season

Top returners: Morgan O’Neil, So.; Madi Tucker, So.

Key newcomers: Kallie Linse, Fr.; April Wheeler, Jr.

Noteworthy: Laurel has just four players on its roster this season one year after finishing second as a team at state. … O’Neil placed fifth at the state meet as a freshman last season, nine strokes back of graduated senior Carlee Hart, who took fourth. … Griffith, in her first-year as coach, is a former All-American golfer at Rocky Mountain College.

Coach Griffith says: “The good thing about these girls is that they’re coachable. Once we get into practice and work on things we’re going to cut some strokes pretty quickly. I’m excited about the upside.”
