Coach says: "I feel we are capable of a top five team finish for both boys and girls."

Etc.: Humphrey placed fifth at state last year and earned all-state recognition.

Billings Skyview Falcons

Last year: 6th place at state

Coach: Kas Ioane

Key players: Cody Brunner, Jr.; Caden Freeman, Sr.; Adam Nedens, Jr.; Killian Yeager, Jr.; Ben Pope, Jr.; Ben Ebel, So.

Coach says: "We have a very young team, a lot of newcomers with potential. We will get to where we need to be by state because it's the only meet that counts."

Bozeman Hawks

Coach: Matt Clark, 2nd season

Key players: JR Small, 9th place at state in 2016; Jack Thorsen

Coach says: "We have a great bunch of kids this year. Probably the least experienced group in all my years with the golf team. We will work extremely hard on improving our ability to manage the course every round."

Kalispell Flathead Braves

Last year: 9th at state

Coach: Kyle Dunfee

Key players: Sam Elliott, Sr.

Coach says: "After a ninth-place finish in a very tight and competitive AA field, the boys return two lettermen in seniors Sam Elliott and Keadon Morisaki. The Braves will look to these two seniors, and a group of younger players, including the addition of Ezra Epperly, to lead the Braves in 2017."

Coach: Mark Hutchinson (2nd season as head coach)

Key players: Liam Clancy, Sr., 2015 state champion; Matt Hayden, Sr.; Ryan Adolph, So.; Alex Adolph, So.; Nick Pasquarelo, Fr.

Coach says: "The boys will be a young team this year led by senior Liam Clancy, a state champion in 2015 and runner-up in 2016. We have some really good young talent coming through the system this year and I think we will be tough by the time divisionals comes around."

Laurel Locomotives

Last year: Third at state

Coach: Jim O'Neil (1st year)

Key players: Paul O'Neil, Jr., Cash Golden, Jr.; Carson Hackmann, Fr.; Jaren McNeil, Sr.; Ryan Kallem, Sr.; Isaiah Broyles, Fr.

Coach says: "We are extremely excited about this year's team. With a nice blend of returning experienced players and a promising incoming freshmen class, we hope to contend for a state championship this year."

Etc.: Paul O'Neil was the Eastern A Divisional champion last year. He placed third at state. Golden was also a member of last year's team, which placed third at state.

SOUTHWEST

Frenchtown Broncs

Coach: Shad Ockler, 2nd season

Coach says: "Our boys team is maturing into being competitive." 

Hamilton Broncs

Last year: State champions

Coach: Owen Burch

Key players: Tristen Hanson, Byrce Reed.

Coach says: "We are very young. We lost three all-state players to graduation: Max Toenjes (state champion), Ky Burch and Blaine Wetzsteon. We can't replace them, but the leadership they provided us the past couple years will lead us a long way. If we can get some experience and confidence throughout the year, you never know what can happen at the end."

NORTHWEST

Coach says: "We are moving from Class B to Class A this year, and the switch from spring golf to fall golf season has had an impact on the overall numbers in the program."

Coach says: "The Bravettes return two lettermen in junior Cassidy Lavin and senior Maisie Hanson, after graduating four seniors in 2016. The Bravettes finished 9th at state a year ago, and begin 2017 with a roster of players who are young and inexperienced."
