GREAT FALLS -- Joey Moore finished in second place and Hannah Zwemke third as the Billings West boys and girls golf teams each earned a second-place finish at the season-opening Great Falls Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at Eagle Falls Golf Course.
Great Falls CMR (boys) and Great Falls (girls) won the team titles.
Moore shot a 142, two strokes off the pace set by medalist Easton Enott of CMR. Senior’s Austin Walter and West’s Garrett Woodin both shot a 144 and finished in a three-way tie for fourth, while Sean Benson of Senior finished seventh with a 146. The Senior boys were third, five shots behind the Rustlers.
Shealyn Hafer of Butte shot a second-day 75 to close the gap on first-day leader Teigan Avery of Glacier. Avery, who led by four strokes heading into Tuesday’s round, shot a 79 and finished in a tie for first with Hafer.
Zwemke was eight shots behind the leaders with a 159, while Senior’s Kortney McNeil was fifth at 162. Right behind McNeil in sixth was West’s Hayden Florh with a 165.
At 715, the Great Falls girls were three strokes better than West and 10 shots ahead of Glacier.
