POLSON -- The Whitefish boys and Polson girls were the team leaders Friday at the conclusion of the first round of play at the State A golf tournament being held at the Polson Bay Golf Course.

Whitefish has a four-stroke edge over Sidney, 316-320, heading into Saturday's closing 18-hole round for the boys. Polson is leading Whitefish, 356-366, for the girls.

Billings Central's boys are sitting fifth at 344 and Lewistown is sixth at 348.

Livingston's girls are in third at 412, with Laurel fourth at 414 and Billings Central eighth at 490.

In the race for individual honors, Sidney's Paul Brannan is tied for the lead at 72 with Art Doorn of Whitefish. Dylan Meccage of Laurel is tied for third at 74.

On the girls side, Livingston's Christal Tokash is leading by three strokes after turning in an opening-round 80. Polson's Nicole Clairmont and Whitefish's Erin Tabish are tied for second at 83.

Laurel's Morgan O'Neil is sixth at 88.
