Repeat after me, Frenchtown and Florence are state champions in softball onceĀ again.

Frenchtown defeated Belgrade 9-5 in nine innings on Saturday in Polson to successfully defend its Class A title. Meanwhile, Florence rolled over Conrad 10-3 in Great Falls to claim its third consecutive championship and eighth since 2000.

Kaylee Prather highlighted Frenchtown's 15-hit attack against Belgrade with a home run. The winning Broncs tallied four runs in the top of the ninth.

Morgan Ray was the winning pitcher for Frenchtown, which finished its season at 23-1, including 4-0 at state.

Frenchtown downed Libby 11-2 in the unbeaten semifinal game earlier on Saturday.

Belgrade got doubles off the bats of Krista West, Skyla Neubauer and Ali Alstrom in the title game.

The Panthers had beaten Livingston 14-9 and Libby 4-2 in loser-out games earlier in the day.

Junior Megan Byrne was the winning pitcher for Florence, which finished with a 27-2 record. Byrne has been a part of the last three championships.

Byrne and Nikki Schurg had two hits apiece for the Falcons. Byrne had a double and two runs batted in.

Florence led 7-2 after two innings.
