LAUREL -- Billings Central and Miles City will play for the championship of the Eastern A divisional softball tournament on Friday.
The Rams and Cowgirls advanced with wins on Thursday. Top-seeded Central, after a first-round bye, shut out Sidney 4-0 in the semifinals behind pitcher Molly Day, who gave up two hits and had 14 strikeouts.
Miles City beat Hardin 4-3 in a first-round game, then upset second-seeded Laurel 7-2 in the semis to advance to the championship. Madissen Hill had four RBIs for the Cowgirls, including a two-run single as part of a four-run second inning.
With their wins, Central and Miles City qualified for next week's State A tournament in Polson.
Laurel slipped into a loser-out game against Glendive on Friday. Sidney and Hardin will play in another loser out game. One of those four will earn the Eastern division’s third and final state tourney berth.
