Billings Aquatic Club swimmer Jack Leuthold is enjoying a record-setting season in the 11-12 boys age division, establishing new Montana state age-division records in 11 of a possible 18 events.
Leuthold has set state marks in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races twice this season. He swam a 23.66 in the 50 freestyle and his record time of 51.08 in the 100 freestyle is currently 13th-best in the U.S. this season.
At a meet in Powell, Wyo., earlier this season, he broke the state age-division record in the 500 freestyle which had stood since 1996, clocking a 5:09.73, and the 200 freestyle record which had stood since 1997 (1:54.66).
Leuthold has set state records in the 100 butterfly (58.81) and 200 butterfly (2:15.57), times which are both just outside the top 20 in the nation this year.
He has also set state records in the 1,000 freestyle (10:41.50), 100 IM (59.50), 200 IM (2:11.25) and 400 IM (4:41.16). The previous 200 IM record had stood since 1997.
