KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Billings Central junior Jenna Marsh finished seventh in the finals of the 18U 100-yard butterfly on Friday at the USA Swimming Junior National Championships.
Marsh, 17, clocked a Montana state-record time of 54.05 in the prelims Friday morning, then swam a 54.25 in the finals -- also better than the previous state record.
“She was phenomenal,” said Billings Aquatic Club and Billings Central coach Brenden Smith. “She’s never even broken 55 seconds before today, so to drop a second-and-a-half in one day is phenomenal. Her time was faster than (Billings Skyview’s) Chandler Crowe swam last week to win the boys 100 fly at the Billings Invitational.”
Marsh swam the 50 freestyle in the meet on Thursday, placing 66th. She is also qualified in the 100 freestyle, which is Saturday.
