CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming High School Activities Association board of directors has rejected proposed changes to state swim meet rules.

The board on Tuesday defeated a proposal that would have allowed for more than four qualifying individuals from the same school to participate in the same event at the state swimming meet.

Currently, if a school has six swimmers who post prequalifying times in the same event, only four would be allowed to participate in that event at the state meet. The proposal would have allowed those two additional swimmers to participate in the preliminary heats, with only the top four swimmers from that school advancing to the finals.

But the Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/q3weDt) that board members meeting in Casper said it's a decision that should be left up to coaches.
