Helena high jumper Trey Tintinger and Belgrade track star Pipi Eitel are the Phillips 66 Billings Refinery 406mtsports.com Athletes of the Month for May.

Tintinger, a 14-year-old freshman, broke his own unofficial age-group world record in winning the Class AA state title in Butte with a leap of 7 feet, 1 1/2 inches on May 26. Tintinger broke the state record of 7-1 set Missoula Hellgate's Mark Koefelda in 1993 and earned a spot in ESPN's top-10 highlights that night.

Tintinger had already jumped his way onto the national stage in early May when he first set his first age-group record, leaping 6-11 at a meet in Great Falls.

Eitel, a senior who is headed to Northern Arizona University, won four individual state championships and accounted for 46 of Belgrade's 80 points in helping the Panthers win their first Class A title since 2009. She set state records in the 3,200 and 1,600 meters, won the 400 and 800, and also anchored the Panthers' fifth-place 4x400 relay team.

Eitel also carries a 4.0 grade-point average and was a salutatorian at Belgrade's graduation ceremony.
