SIDNEY — The 26-team Sidney Eagle Invitational wrestling tournaments gets underway on Friday at 9 a.m. at Sidney High School.
On Friday, competition begins with a duals tournament where there are three pools consisting of eight teams in each pool. Then at 6 p.m. Friday night, the first round of the 32-man bracket invitational starts.
Wrestling resumes on Saturday at 9 a.m. and the finals are slated to begin at 4:45 p.m. The contest will be held on six mats. Placing matches will be contested on four mats.
Teams from every classification in Montana are entered. There are also teams from Washington, Idaho and North Dakota. The defending champion in the duals tournament is Post Falls, Idaho. Last year's invitational champion was Columbia High School of Nampa, Idaho.
"It's a good field. It's competitive," said longtime Sidney coach Guy Melby. "It has turned into one of the tougher tournaments we go to. It's fun."
