The deadline to apply for the Big Sky State Games' Character Counts Scholarship is May 16.
Applications are available to download at www.bigskygames.org . Applications are also available at Montana high schools guidance counselor offices.
Over the past 10 years, the Big Sky State Games has awarded the Character Counts Scholarship to outstanding Montana female and male student-citizen-athletes involved in the BSSG. The scholarship can be used for any secondary education after high school.
Only high school juniors during the 2013-14 school year are eligible for this scholarship. This is to ensure that fellow students can observe the scholarship winners during their senior year and recognize the traits the students show.
The 2013 winners of the $500 Character Counts Scholarships were Mika Robinson of Billings, Sara Heard of Billings, James Riley of Broadus and Logan Laird of Billings. This year's winners will be announced at the 29th Annual Big Sky State Games Opening Ceremonies July 18 at Wendy's Field at Daylis Stadium.
The Character Counts Coalition teams with the BSSG and Kenco Security and Technology to recognize the importance of sportsmanship and character in Montana student athletes.
