Entries are still be accepted for the 97th Montana State Women's Amateur and Senior Amateur golf tournament, which is scheduled for July 24-26 at Yellowstone Country Club in Billings.

Carla Berg, executive secretary/director of the Montana State Women's Golf Association, said Wednesday that she has received around 100 entries.

"We'll take 100 more," she said.

The entry deadline is July 18.

Prior to July 15, entries can be mailed to Berg at P.O. Box 52, Sidney, Mont., 59270. After that, it is best to enter online at www.msgagolf.org.

The Amateur portion is open to Montana residents who are members of the MSWGA and have a current Montana State Golf Association handicap index of 40.4 or less.

Entrants for the Senior Amateur must be age 50 or older by the first day of the championship.

Berg said reigning Amateur champion Amber Lundskog of Bozeman has been dealing with a back ailment and will not be defending her title. Two-time defending Senior Amateur champion Sue Peterson of Glendive will be competing at YCC.

Cathie Williamson of Great Falls, who won the Amateur title when the state championships were last played at YCC in 2003, is also among the early entrants, Berg said.

Last year's Amateur and Senior Amateur held at Meadow Lark Country Club in Great Falls attracted around 150 players.
