Lake Hills Golf Club has been sold, according to a notice on the website of the Billings Heights course.
The 18-hole public course, which opened in 1957 and is located at 1930 Clubhouse Way, was apparently sold in a recent online auction.
The new owners were not identified, and the purchase price wasn't disclosed.
"The transfer of ownership is scheduled for September 2nd," the website notice read. "We will introduce the new owners as we get closer to the transfer of ownership dates."
The Lake Hills course, which sits on 202 acres and is surrounded by a sprawling residential area, was purchased by Ron Hill, owner of Specialized Construction Inc. of Billings, in November 2009 from Rainer Dahl of Salt Lake City.
Hill, who has made major improvements to the course since he bought it, didn't immediately return phone calls on Thursday afternoon seeking comment.
When Hill purchased the course from Dahl, the price tag was never revealed.
In recent months, however, classified ads in The Gazette have appeared stating that the course was for sale at a "new reduced price of $2.95 million."
For the online auction, which ran from June 12-20, the opening bid was set at a minimum of $2 million, according to the auction link at Lakehillsgolf.com.
The advertisement also noted that the sale of Lake Hills included the clubhouse/pro shop, a new maintenance shop and all carts and equipment.
The clubhouse underwent a major makeover to its interior and exterior in recent years. Lake Hills also has a new 4,000-square-foot maintenance facility.
