Tvetene Turf in Billings will be hosting local and regional competition this Friday and Saturday for the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship.

A local qualifier for the open division (all ages) will take place between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, with the regional contest getting underway at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Tvetene Turf is located at 6844 South Frontage Road. In the past, the event has been held at Amend Park.

Director Mike Dale of Billings said that Donald and Mike Tvetene are looking forward to hosting the two days of competition on what he called a "perfect grid."

No admission will be charged.

For the long drivers entered in the local qualifier, it will cost $40 for six balls. Competitors can enter multiple times if they want.

The top performers at regionals move on to the world finals, set for Sept. 20-27 at the Mesquite (Nev.) Sports & Events Complex and Nov. 4 at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort.

At regionals, the Long Drivers of America (LDA) will -- for the first time -- also be paying $1,000 for first place, $600 for second and $400 for third.

For more information on the local and regional qualifiers, contact Dale at (406) 697-4677.
