SAMMAMISH, Wash. -- Billings golfer Brandon McIver placed in a 5-way tie for 27th Wednesday at the conclusion of the Sahalee Players Championship at Sahalee Country Club.

McIver, a University of Oregon golfer who played in the recent U.S. Open at Pinehurst, N.C., closed with an even-par 72 and finished at 10-over 298 for 72 holes.

There were 67 competitors. Mark Anquiano of Whittier, Calif., won by four strokes at 8-under 280 (71-69-69-71).

The competition, held outside of Seattle, is ranked as the No. 21 amateur tournament in the world by the international organization Scratch Players Group.

McIver, 20, carded rounds of 75, 74, 77 and 72 over the three days.

He is the reigning Montana State Amateur champion.
