EUGENE, Ore. -- Former Billings West golf standout Brandon McIver will be on the University of Oregon scorecard when the Ducks begin play Thursday at the NCAA Regional tournament, which will be played on their home course at Eugene Country Club.
Oregon will be joined by 12 other teams and 10 players competing as individuals in the three-day regional, which wraps up on Saturday.
The young Ducks are looking to get back to the NCAA Tournament after missing the 2013 event by just two strokes. The top five teams at the regional will advance, along with the top individual competing unattached.
Oregon is seeded seventh in the regional field.
McIver, a sophomore, has a scoring average of 72.05 while playing 37 rounds for the Ducks. He tied for 22nd overall at the recent Pac-12 championships, closing out with a 5-under 67 during the final round.
A multiple state winner as a high school and junior player, McIver is also the reigning Montana State Amateur champion.
