The Road Race to Rapelje cycling competition is set to roll Aug. 23 beginning at 10 a.m.

The event, sponsored by the International Christian Cycling Club of Billings, will be on a 25-mile road route from Columbus to Rapelje on Rapleje Road. Turnaround points will vary depending upon race category and distance.

Race distances range from 10 miles to 75 miles.

Racings categories and distances include: Men’s 1/2/3, 75 miles; Men’s 4/5, 50 miles; Women’s Open, 50 miles; Citizens’ Race, 25 miles; Juniors (13-17), 25 miles and Young Juniors (9-12), 10 miles.

Medals and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category.

The road race begins in Columbus, with the staging area at the Holmgren Fishing Access 4 miles west of Rapelje Road. The finish line will be at the top of the hill 1½ miles west of the Rapelje Road.

To get to the race, take Interstate 90 to Columbus, follow Montana 78 to Pike Avenue, turn west where Pike turns into Highway 10 and continue 4½ miles past Rapelje Road.

All USA Cycling regulations will be strictly enforced. Helmets must be worn at all times. USA Cycling licenses are also required and one-day licenses will be available.

Cyclists who preregister by Wednesday pay $30. Registration increases after Wednesday to $40. Junior race for free. Registration closes at 9 a.m. Saturday.
