The Matriarchs, a four-member Billings bowling team where all of the women are age 90 or above, will be competing in the team event at the Montana USBC state tournament on April 27 at Town & Country Lanes.

Inez Driscoll, 94, Alice Frank, 94, Artie Markegard, 90, and Jackie Jacobson, 90, are scheduled to be on the lanes at 2 p.m. The four will only be competing in the team event.

All four women are from Billings.

This will likely be the oldest team to ever compete at state, tournament manager Tom Brendgord said. The women's event dates to 1928.

Driscoll and Frank will also be recognized as the recipients of The Grand Duchess Award, which recognizes the oldest woman competing in the state tournament.

Driscoll was born a couple of weeks before Frank in 1920.

Jacobson was The Grand Duchess Award winner at last year's state tournament in Missoula.

Jacobson, Frank and Markegard all bowled as members of The Matriarchs team during the Greater Yellowstone Valley association city tournament last February.

Along with Driscoll, they have all competed in league bowling in Billings this season. Frank bowled a 480 scratch series with a high game of 181 in the city tournament.
