The Billings Elks Tennis Center will host a free “Tennis Lollapalooza” on Saturday, June 1.
The highlight of the event will be an exhibition match featuring Kim Yee, the No. 1-ranked female junior player in the U.S. Event organizer Jerry Peach said the 16-year-old Lee, from Las Vegas, will face another ranked junior player yet to be determined.
“Rain or shine we will hold this event,” said Peach. “That's because we will be on the new, cushioned, wonderful indoor courts at the Billings Elks Tennis Center.”
The event will feature court time for players of all ages, a barbeque lunch (not free of charge) during which the public can learn about upcoming lessons, workouts, and an auction that includes items autographed by tennis legend Billie Jean King.
The Lollapalooza runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The barbeque will begin at 2:30 p.m.
Peach said all proceeds will benefit the creation of a junior tennis foundation in Billings to help pay expenses for a junior tennis team. Peach has organized a junior team that is already scheduled to compete in Rapid City and Missoula.
