RED LODGE -- Carter Theade, Patrick Zimmer and Mallory Kelley were named the Silver Run Ski Team competitors of the year at the club’s annual end-of-season awards banquet earlier this month.
Theade and Kelley finished their season at the Western Junior Championships in Mission Ridge, Wash., where Theade finished 10th in the slalom and 19th in the giant slalom; and Kelley finished 12th in the Super G.
Zimmer capped his season by finishing 18th in the slalom at the U16 Western Region Championships in Aleyeska, Alaska.
Theade and Zimmer were also named winners of Northern Division awards.
Theade, a senior at Red Lodge High School, was the winner in the U21 class. Theade won the prestigious “Gold Cup” for the best overall competitor for the fourth year in a row. This award gave her a $200 scholarship.
Zimmer, a freshman at Billings Senior, was the best overall male competitor in the U16 age group.
Other awards included Anna Szabo and Sean Jacobsen for most improved skiers; Kelsey Schmidt for the Bruce Anderson sportsmanship award; Chloe Davies and Max Haynes for rookies of the year; and Colson DeCarlo for teammate of the year.
Also, Theade, Zimmer, Kelley, DeCarlo, Maelyn Kisthard and Peder Rickbeil were named academic achievers for being selected to a championship event while maintaining a 3.5 or higher GPA.
