GREAT FALLS — Hailee Farstveet led four players in double-digit scoring Friday night as Rocky Mountain College fought off the University of Great Falls 63-60 in Frontier Conference women's basketball.
Farstveet led the Battlin' Bears (5-12, 13-16) with 14 points and four assists. She was closely followed in the scoring column by teammates Keisha Engelhardt (11), Alecia Chamberlin (11) and Justyn Juhl (10).
Juhl and Farstveet knocked down two 3-pointers apiece.
Rocky led 61-55 with 1:04 to play, but UGF worked its way back to within 61-60 before Engelhardt made a pair of free throws with nine seconds left.
"I thought we were real patient and moved the ball well," Rocky coach Wes Keller said of his team's 23-15 fourth-quarter surge. "We got some open shots and knocked them down."
The Argos (1-16, 12-16), who missed a last-second 3-pointer, were led by the 17 points and 10 rebounds of Stephanie McDonagh. Teammate Nneka Nnadi added 16 points.
Madeline Jacquart grabbed a team-high nine rebounds for Rocky, which trailed by nine points early in the game.
The Bears, who have lost a number of tight contests, will wrap up the regular season on Saturday night with a game at Montana State-Northern in Havre.
"We finally got one to go our way," Keller said. "That will be a big confidence booster for us (Saturday) and heading into the playoffs."
