GREAT FALLS — The community of Shepherd was at the forefront of the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finals on Saturday night.

Bull rider Devon Mitchell and barrel racer Shelly Anzick, both from Shepherd, each earned wins in the second round at Four Seasons Arena.

The MPRC Finals, which concludes Sunday afternoon, determines the 2017 year-end champions. The year-end and Finals winners earn berths in the National Circuit Finals Rodeo, April 5-8 in Kissimmee, Florida.

Mitchell won the bull riding with an 88-point ride, the highest mark of the finals. There were only three qualified rides on Saturday.

Anzick won the barrel racing in 13.08 seconds, also the quickest time of the Finals. The former National Finals Rodeo qualifier also leads the year-end standings.

Other round winners were: Chase Erickson and JR Vezain, bareback, 84 points; Delon Parker-Ryan Zurcher, team roping, 4.6 seconds; Will Stovall, steer wrestling, 4.6 seconds; Ricky Warren, saddle bronc, 83 points; Ty Hedrick, tie-down roping, 9.4 seconds.
