Jess Lockwood prepares to be interviewed

LAS VEGAS — Jess Lockwood continued his hot streak, winning the first round of the Professional Bull Riders World Finals Wednesday night at T-Mobile Arena.

The 20-year-old bull rider from Volborg was 90.25 points aboard Big Dutch to earn 300 points in the Built Ford Tough Series standings and $35,000.

Lockwood, who came to Las Vegas fourth in the BFTS standings, pulled within 200 points closer of standings leader Derek Kolbaba.

It is Lockwood's first ride at the PBR World Finals after going 0 for 5 last year.

Matt Triplett of Columbia Falls did not receive a score.

The PBR World Finals continues through Sunday.
