GREAT FALLS — J.R. Vezain of Melstone, Ashley Day of Volborg and Parker Breding of Edgar were among the average winners Sunday at the conclusion of the three-day Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finals at the Four Seasons Arena.
Vezain ruled over the bareback riding competition to also come away with the circuit's year-end title. Day triumphed in the average in the barrel racing, while Breding couldn't be beat in the bull riding.
The MPRC Finals, which concluded the 2017 season, determined the year-end and finals champions who will move on to the National Circuit Finals Rodeo, set for April 5-8 in Kissimmee, Florida.
Hank Hollenbeck of Molt was the year-end all-around champion. He also qualified for the national finals in tie-down roping.
Shelly Anzick of Shepherd was the year-end barrel racing winner and will join Day in Florida.
The other year-end winners included Dustin Bird of Cut Bank (team roping, header), Chase Tryan of Helena (team roping, heeler), Scott Guenthner of Alberta (steer wrestling), Jesse Kruse of Great Falls (saddle bronc) and Nolan Conway of Browning (tie-down roping).
Sunday's event winners included Cavan Wrzesinski of Boulder (bareback riding), Max Kuttler of Pompeys Pillar and Kory Mytty of Lolo (team roping), Ty Erickson of Helena (steer wrestling), Alan Gobert of Browning (saddle bronc), Erik Dublanko of Alberta (tie-down roping), Anzick (barrel racing) and Breding (bull riding).
Conway was the Circuit Finals all-around winner.
