OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma — Reigning world champion Jess Lockwood of Volborg finished fifth Sunday at the 25th PBR: Unleash The Beast Express Employment Professional Invitational held inside the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Lockwood was bucked off his bull during round two, but bounced back with a solid 88.5 points aboard Gangster's Wildside on Championship Sunday. He finished the event with 130 world points and a paycheck for $5,700.
Lockwood is ranked 11th overall in the world standings.
Oklahoma's Ryan Dirteater, who tallied 93.25 points for his ride on SweetPro's Bruiser during the championship round, won his first premier series event in his home state. He batted three-for-three against the bulls en route to 545 world points and $36,700 in winnings.
He is now ranked No. 4 in the world, jumping 17 positions with the win. His 93.25 is also the highest score of the season.
Dener Barbosa of Paulo de Faria, Brazil, placed second, followed by Stetson Lawrence of Williston, North Dakota, Dakota Buttar of Kindersley, Saskatchewan and Lockwood.
In riding to No. 8 in the world standings, Lawrence came through with the high-marked ride of his career on the premier series in the championship round, 92.25 points aboard Cochise.
