Conrad Johnson, financial advisor at the Billings branch of U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, will present a seminar, "Retirement Recovery Strategies," on Tuesday, May 6, at the Piper Jaffray office, 303 N. The professional association for attorneys, the State Bar of Montana, will hold a Continuing Legal Education seminar on Friday, May 16, at the Custer County Courthouse and the Town & Country Club in Miles City.

The conference will start at the courthouse at 8:10 a.m. for the first two presentations, then will move to the Town & Country Club at 10:30 a.m. for the rest of the program, which will adjourn at 4:30 p.m.

Monet's Kitchen, a personal chef and on-site catering service, is new to the community. Chef Elizabeth Decker-Bjerken of Laurel, a graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu program of Western Culinary Institute of Portland, Ore., comes to your home and prepares up to 10 gourmet meals. Ten nonprofit groups throughout the state recently received cash awards totaling $19,200 from NorthWestern Energy's Donation Committee. They are: Reach in Bozeman, $3,500; Golden Triangle Mental Health Center, Great Falls, $3,000; Montana Conservation Corps, $2,700; Big Horn Hospital Foundation, Hardin, $2,000; Children's Museum of Montana, Great Falls, $2,000; Philipsburg School District, $1,500; Only the Brave Productions, Missoula, $1,500; Girl Scouts Treasure Trails Council, Billings, $1,000; Darby Public Schools, $1,000; and Missoula Food Bank, $1,000.
