BOZEMAN — The Central Agricultural Research Center's 2006 Field Research Tour and Hay Day will be June 22. Central's Superintendent David Wichman said registration will begin at 9 a.m. and tours at 9:30 a.m.
The 2006 tour will feature Willow Creek winter wheat and other winter cereal forage species and varieties. It will also feature a look at spring cereal forage varieties, alfalfa variety trials, perennial grass species and variety trials, fall seeded winter peas for forage and grain and the effect on future cereal grain nitrogen needs, legume inoculation type evaluations, the effect of companion crops on alfalfa stands, and evaluations on the effect of seeding date on oilseed crops and fenugreek.
The event will also include demonstrations on the effect of seeding date on spring cereal forages and the effect of nitrogen rate on stand establishment, when nitrogen fertilizer is placed with the seed of barley and spring wheat.
The noon lunch will be hosted through the support of agricultural dealers and vendors.
