Five Guys Burgers and Fries is opening its first Billings shop at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shiloh Crossing on Billings West End.
The fast-casual restaurant will operate in a new 8,700-square-foot building constructed in front of the Meridian and Bottega clothing shops. It's open until 10 p.m. seven days a week.
It shares the building with Popeyes chicken, which opened in December.
Patrick Carls, owner of the Five Guys franchise, said the expansion has been in the works for awhile.
“We’ve been trying to come to Billings for two or three years now. Things kept getting held up… We just had to find the right spot,” Carls said.
Carls owns six Five Guys restaurants, with locations in Missoula, Kalispell, Bozeman, Richland, Wash., and two in Spokane, Wash.
The Billings location has 62 employees.
Lorton, Va.-based Five Guys has more than 1,000 locations worldwide. Carls said all the ingredients are fresh, and the restaurant has no freezers or microwaves.
