Montana businesses have a larger pool to seek loans for startups and expansions.
The nonprofit Montana Community Development Corp. announced last week it received $55 million in new tax credits from the U.S. Treasury Department for economic development.
The Missoula-based agency has received $276 million total to help fund projects statewide, including an office building in Billings. The agency received its first tax-credit grant in 2008 and estimates the program has helped create 1,230 jobs statewide.
The Treasury Department program was created in 2000 to help encourage development in traditionally poor areas.
