Dr. Lionel Tapia was recently presented with the Exceptional Board Leadership Award by the Community Health Association of Mountain/Plains States at the organization’s annual primary care conference in Denver. The award recognized Tapia’s outstanding commitment to RiverStone Health and the medically underserved. Since 2003, Tapia has served on the RiverStone Health Clinic board, including six years as the board chair. He has also served as the board’s representative to the RiverStone Board of Health.
Tapia worked at Deering Clinic (now RiverStone Health) before joining the Children’s Clinic. He has remained in touch with the health center movement and provided consultation and direct care to RiverStone Health pediatric patients, regardless of the ability of those families to pay. He has also taught and mentored physicians-in-training with the Montana Family Medicine Residency, which is based at RiverStone Health.
