Maggy Rozycki Hiltner

Red Lodge-based artist Maggy Rozycki Hiltner

Artist Maggy Rozycki Hiltner will be speaking and answering questions at Toucan Gallery on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m.

Hiltner's talk, entitled “Why So Serious?” is a brief primer on the use of humor in art. Known for her own barbed-but-witty take on the human predicament as expressed in embroidery, fabric, and found textile elements, Hiltner is an accomplished Red Lodge-based artist whose work has been recognized and published nationally. She has shown in galleries and museums across the country.

Vantage Point

Incorporating embroidery she finds at antique shops, Red Lodge artist Maggy Rozycki Hiltner simulates classic 1950s and 1960s imagery in her work to convey a deeper story.

Her presentation on Saturday will address humor from a variety of angles with respect to artistic expression and will be accompanied by many visual examples. A reception will follow providing an opportunity for conversation and refreshments with Hiltner, whose most recent gallery work is currently on display at Toucan. The gallery is located at 2505 Montana Avenue in downtown Billings.
