Black and white photographs of Iceland are part of a new shot up at Windy Flats Gallery in Nye.

NYE — The Windy Flats Gallery is hosting a new exhibit featuring traditional black and white landscape photos from a recent trip to Iceland by Edward Barta.

The opening will be June 28 and 29 from 1 to 6 p.m. at 259 Limestone Rd.

Barta uses a large-format field camera and prints his negatives in a standard wet darkroom. His limited-edition, silver gelatin photographs are selenium toned and mounted on acid-free mat board.

Barta was born, raised, and educated in Montana. He has traveled and lived abroad and now maintains a home in Billings and a retreat cabin in Nye, where Windy Flats Gallery is located.

His passion is taking photographs of the Montana landscape, particularly the landscape in and around the Stillwater Valley.

Also on exhibit will be pottery by David Bakken; mixed-media paintings by Sheilah Healow; and encaustic paintings by Brownie Snyder. Western representational artist Tom Wolfe will round out the show with watercolor and oil paintings.
