“Evening Under the Big Sky,” a fundraiser for the Audubon Conservation Education Center, is set for Sept. 7 at the center, 7026 South Billings Blvd.
The Audubon Center will host an evening of fine dining and entertainment, beginning at 6 p.m. The dinner will be accompanied by a silent and live auction along with live music from Kemmick and Friends.
This will be the second annual fundraising event for the center. Tickets go on sale July 15. For more information or to order tickets, go to www.mtacec.org.
The center is a grass-roots project on 54 acres along the Yellowstone River. It serves to preserve and enrich wildlife habitat, connect people with nature, and provide important open space and public outdoor recreational opportunities within Billings. The center functions as an outdoor classroom and the staff provides after-school and school programs, family workshops and summer camps focused on increasing awareness, appreciation and understanding of the Yellowstone River ecosystem.
In existence since 2000, the prior gravel pit has been restored to natural habitats including major plant communities in Eastern Montana. Much of the restoration work has been accomplished by community volunteers. The center relies on donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations to support education programs and restore wildlife habitat.
