Canyon Creek String Ensemble

Members of the Canyon Creek String Ensemble, in addition to conductor Schultz Levesque, are artistic director and violinist Michelle Odermott; violinists Carol Critelli, Lauren Griffin, John Hoyer, Carol Lustig, Ashley Williams, Karianna Jinguji, Abby Mathews, Kourtni McHugh and Alanna Wulf; violists Ruth Letson, Pam Avery, Katie Krumdieck and Ginny Waples; cellists Dillon Mitchell, Sue Armstrong, Cynthia Brewer, Liz Fulton and Joan Sorenson; and string bassist Margaret Cleveland. Joining the ensemble for the Dec. 2 concert are guest musicians Sara Schultz Levesque, viola and piano; Ryan Hennessey, string bass; and Robyn Bauer, percussion.

The Canyon Creek String Ensemble will perform a concert of orchestral suites on Sunday, Dec. 2, at Mayflower Congregational Church, 2940 Poly Dr., Billings. The concert, dubbed “Celebrate the Suite Life,” begins at 3 p.m. and is free.

The 24-member string ensemble is comprised of Billings-area music educators and musicians. Guest conductor Ali A. Schultz Levesque will open the concert with “Suite of Seven Pieces” by 16th century composer Giles Farnaby, followed by John Rutter’s “Suite for Strings,” Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango,” and contemporary composer Ralph Manuel’s moving “Alleluia.” The program will close with Gustav Holst’s crowd pleasing “St. Paul’s Suite.”
