Food Truck Battle on the Yellowstone

The Food Truck Battle on the Yellowstone, a fundraiser by the Breakfast Exchange Club of Billings, takes place on the grounds at MetraPark on Saturday from noon - 7 p.m. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Veterans Matter to help support veterans with deposits associated with renting housing.

The battle for the best food truck in Billings has a philanthropic twist this year. While attendees of Saturday's Food Truck Battle eat their way through truckloads of food, ten percent of all sales will go to help homeless and struggling veterans obtain housing.

Taking place from noon to 7 p.m. on the fairgrounds at MetraPark, the event is organized by the Breakfast Exchange Club of Billings. Proceeds will go to Veterans Matter, which assists veterans with housing deposits through a partnership with the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing program, according to the organization's website.

The cost per entry is $5, and children 12 and younger and veterans are free. Ten percent of food sales, as well as proceeds from gate admission and beer sales will be donated to Veterans Matter.

"While Billings has tens of thousands of hard working volunteers who help make this a better place in so many ways, cold hard cash is required as well," said Rene Critelli, Breakfast Exchange Club president elect.

The Breakfast Exchange is a volunteer national service organization. Through beer and wine sales at First Interstate Arena and the surrounding grounds, the club raises money for local charities, focused on child abuse prevention and children-at-risk programs, as well as veterans' programs.

The food truck battle includes live music by D’tective from noon to 3 p.m. and the Brickhouse Band plays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event is family-friendly and includes a kid's zone with castle tent, face painting, crafts, a large group painting project, photos with princesses and super heroes, and yard games.

Awards will be given to food trucks for “Best in Billings,” voted on by the attendees as well as guest local celebrity judges.
