ALZADA - The 15th annual free Alzada Cowboy Poetry, Music and Art Show opens at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Community Hall with the viewing of the art. Poetry and music begin at 1 p.m.

BIG TIMBER - The Big Timber Volunteer Firemen will hold an "all you can eat" Pancake Feed from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion. The cost is $3 for ages 12 and up, $2 for age 5-12; under 5 is free.

BILLINGS - Internationally acclaimed concert pianist Rebecca Penneys performs at 3 p.m. Sunday in Losekamp Hall at Rocky Mountain College. Free. Call 657-1112.

BILLINGS - On Oct. 11, Parents, Let's Unite for Kids (PLUK) will provide a special day of activities featuring world-renown paleontologist Jack Horner of the Museum of the Rockies. The event is titled Dinosaur Day and will include a workshop for kids where Horner will meet with the participants at MSU-Billings. In the evening, Horner will speak at a dinner (for all ages) at the Sheraton Hotel and discuss how Montana is a dream state for paleontologists. BILLINGS - The Big Sky Polka Festival, featuring the Softones, Country Pride, Bob Bares Band, Top Notchmen and Don and the High Rollers will be held Oct. 3-5 at the Shrine Auditorium, 1125 Broadwater Ave. The dance schedule is 3 p.m.-midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and 1-6 p.m. Sunday. BILLINGS - The Montana Repertory Theater's production of the play "My Children! My Africa! by South African playwright Athol Fugard will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the third floor meeting room.

BILLINGS - Billings Christian Singles will hold a dinner and dance for adults only Saturday at Oscar's Dreamlands new Party Hall. Dinner and special music will be held from 7 to 8:15 p.m.; praise and worship with a special speaker from 8:15 to 8:30 p.m.; and live music and dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight. LAUREL - Oktoberfest is Oct. 3-5, hosted by Making a Difference, a nonprofit children's organization. Festivities will take place off Southeast Fourth Street in a fenced-off area, east of the Laurel Super 8 Motel. Enjoy music and dancing as well as kids' games and inflatables, crafters and food. Adult tickets are $5 for one day and $9 for the weekend ($1 discount for seniors 65 and older). Children under 13 will be admitted free. Tickets for ages 13-18 are $4 for the weekend and $2 for one day.

MILES CITY - The semi-annual Muriel Cooksey Accordion Jamboree will be held from 1-6 p.m. Sunday at the Drop-In Center. A lunch will be served at 6 p.m., and there will be an admission charge.

RED LODGE - Local musicians Paul Beck and Charlie Brandeen perform to Merv Coleman's breathtaking slides of Montana at the "Beartooth Blast- A Celebration of Our Time, Our Place." The event is the seventh annual benefit for the Carbon County Resource Council (CCRC), a local grassroots citizens' group working to promote land stewardship and preserve family agriculture. From 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday includes live music, games, entertainment, dinner with locally-produced lamb and beef, all at the Red Lodge Golf Course Clubhouse. Tickets for the event are available at the Red Lodge Chamber of Commerce, Sylvan Peak, Red Lodge Glass and Red Lodge Books. Advance tickets are $12, or $15 at the door. SIDNEY - The Sidney Performing Arts Council and the Northeastern Arts Network will open their 2003-2004 Big Sky Series with a concert by Company Fore'-Fote at 7:30 p.m., Monday, at the Sidney Middle School Auditorium. Company Fore'-Fote is an educational and performance organization dedicated to exploring and preserving the music, dance and culture of West Africa.
