Winners in the 2018 Magic City Music Awards, a celebration of the local music scene and its performers, musicians, bands and supporters, were announced on Friday in a readers' choice awards ceremony at the Pub Station. 

From best live music venue to favorite band, best guitarist to male and female vocalist, awards in each category are determined by popular vote. Winners in each category are listed below. A full list of runners up is included here

  • Freeman Lacy Award: Jaci Webb
  • Country act of the year: Bucky Beaver Ground Grippers
  • Americana, folk or bluegrass act of the year: The High Country String Band
  • Blues, Soul, Funk or R&B act of the year: Hubba Hubba
  • Jazz act of the year: MSUB Jazz Ensemble
  • Classic Rock act of the year: Midlife Chryslers
  • Alternative or Indie act of the year: Arterial Drive
  • Metal act of the year: Righteous Vendetta
  • Punk act of the year: Silverbow Society
  • Reggae or Island act of the year: Yellowstoned
  • Hip hop or rap act of the year: Supaman
  • Solo performer of the year: Austin Martin
  • New band of the year: Arterial Drive
  • Drums or percussion musician of the year: Zack Goggins
  • Bass musician of the year: Juanillo Chavis
  • Guitar musician of the year: Drew McDowell
  • Keyboard musician of the year: Samm Bauer
  • Horn musician of the year: Ryan Supola
  • String instrument musician of the year: Meg Gildehaus
  • Female vocalist of the year: Jessica Lechner
  • Male vocalist of the year: Austin Martin
  • Songwriter of the year: Austin Martin
  • Spoken word artist of the year: Molly Ouellette
  • Album of the year (tie): Yellowstoned, “Safety Meeting,” and Austin Martin & Jon Barnea, “Cold November”
  • Original song of the year: Arterial Drive, “A Little Time”
  • Video of the year: Supaman, “Rise”
  • Show of the year: Arterial Drive and Mandela Effect, at Yellowstone Valley Brewing
  • Venue of the year: The Pub Station
  • Sound engineer of the year: Jon Barnea
  • Radio DJ of the year: Big J (Jason Harris) - Hot 101.9
  • Club DJ or Electronic Dance Music artist of the year (tie): DJ Benefit and DJ Tektonics
