"CINENEWS": These days, many movie fans seem to be interested in things that once were seldom mentioned outside the pages of Variety. This new weekly program will report on casting, production, marketing and more. 9 a.m. on Encore.
"LUCY": By the time everyone came to know Lucille Ball on "I Love Lucy," her real-life marriage to Desi Arnaz was anything but the storybook romance that had begun years earlier. This new movie looks at their tumultuous off-screen relationship while going behind the scenes of the show that made them famous. Rachel York plays Lucy and Danny Pino is Desi. 7 p.m. on CBS.
"A USER'S GUIDE TO 'HOME IMPROVEMENT' ": Tim Allen hosts a celebration of the popular comedy series that ended four years ago. Also returning are cast members Al Borland and Debbe Dunning, but it seems that the others couldn't make it. 7 p.m. on ABC.
"THE ROMAN SPRING OF MRS. STONE": A new version adapted from the Tennessee Williams novella stars Helen Mirren as the aging American actress and Olivier Martinez as the gigolo with whom she has an affair. (Vivien Leigh and Warren Beatty played the roles in a 1961 movie.) With Anne Bancroft. 6 p.m. on Showtime.
"THE GIN GAME": Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore star in this new adaptation of the play about two nursing home residents who interact over a progression of gin rummy games. This is said to be the first time that Van Dyke and Moore have acted together since "The Dick Van Dyke Show" ended in 1966. 9 p.m. on PBS.
