JP Kitchen Asian Bistro, at 805 24th St. W., opened in late 2015. They serve Asian fusion cuisine, incorporating Chinese dishes with elements from other Asian cultures, as well as distinctly American ingredients.
Owner/Manager: Kalvin Tang & Kirsten Loop
Suggested dish: Black bean garlic chicken is one of our most popular dishes. It's a good entry level dish if you are new to Chinese or Asian cuisine.
What's unique about your restaurant: It's a great venue. Local design firm Kibler & Kirch designed our restaurant, and they're one of the premier design companies in Montana — truly world-class. We also have an open kitchen so you can see the cooks making your food. We serve authentic flavors and dishes as well as some American-Asian fusion, like smoked trout fried rice.
Price range: Lunch $8-$12, Dinner $14-$21
Location: 805 24th St. W., Ste. 2. We're in the same strip mall as Jimmy John's.
Hours: Lunch: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Dinner 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Closed Monday.
Payment types accepted: All major credit cards, cash and checks.
Something people may be surprised to know: Kalvin's family owned the Jade Palace, which closed in March of 2015 after 28 years of business. The "JP" in our name references the Jade Palace, where we come from.
Where do you go when you eat somewhere else?: Kirsten and I like the Muzzle Loader. It's great diner food with great value — they make perhaps the best chicken fried steak around. Other than that, we try to go to all of the local establishments on our day off. Billings has some great local restaurants. It's really coming along in the food scene.
